Faculty Diversity Liaison

Faculty Diversity Liaisons enable students of color explore their academic interests, connect and identify with the department, and succeed in the university community. Each fall, Pathways invites each L&S department to choose a representative to the Faculty Diversity Liaison Program.

Faculty Diversity Liaisons help students in a variety of ways:

  • Act as an information resource about academic support and academic enrichment programs on campus.
  • Serve as mentors for new students.
  • Provide Pathways' resource information to students of color.
  • Inform Pathways about research, employment, and financial opportunities within their department.
  • Promote a nurturing and supportive environment within their departments for students of color.
  • Support students of color at campus and community-sponsored events.
  • Look for offensive materials or remarks within their department.
  • Serve as research mentors for Undergraduate Research Scholars
  • .
  • Give a listening ear and act as an advocate for students of color.
