Meaning of Life

In this Honors FIG, "Truth and the Meaning of Life," you will examine some core philosophical values and topics -- beauty, good, right, freedom, happiness -- that inform the social, political, aesthetic, moral, and religious aspects of our lives. All of these topics will be explored in the context of the question, "What -- if anything -- is the meaning of life?" In Philosophy 104, the core seminar of this FIG, you will look at these issues from a philosophical perspective. In the other two courses, you will draw on the literary and artistic works -- Greek and medieval classics, Shakespearian plays, and so forth -- that explore some of the same themes discussed in the philosophy class.
