Impacts of Computer and Information Technology in Today’s World
seats remaining

Computers and information technology are now part of many daily activities: e-mail, the Internet, digital photography, photo editing, computer banking, digital libraries, electronic voting—the list goes on. This FIG will challenge students to consider both the positive and negative impacts of computer and information technology in today’s world. Students will learn the basics of computer programming and the mathematics that computer science depends upon.
Students will also explore the possible uses of computer systems, with an emphasis on understanding the social changes they influence and the choices they present. In addition, students will apply some of their programming skills in community service projects associated with the main FIG class, which will provide hands-on understanding and impacts of computer technology.
