Chicana/o Studies Program

Chicano/a Student Academic Services (CSAS) works very closely with the Chicana/o Studies Program in providing academic, cultural, research and organizational support for students, faculty and staff with an interest in studying about our Chicano/a & Mexicano/a culture. The program offers a Chicana/o Studies certificate and the opportunity to complete independent research with Chicana/o Studies faculty. Although the program has a special interest for Chicana/o, Mexican American and Latina/o students, because of their heritage, the program is open, and encourages all students to enroll and take advantage of this program. The certificate in Chicana/o Studies is an opportunity for students in many areas such as education, business, sociology, health and medicine, social work and any related fields that have a concern with the multicultural society that forms the United States. The program sponsors many events including lectures, brown bag lunches and cultural celebrations. The Chicana/o Studies Program is housed on the third floor of Ingraham Hall (main office - 313 Ingraham) and has a student lounge (Cesar Chavez Student Lounge) where students can relax, use for meetings or to study in.
