AcademyHealth also promotes interaction across the health research and policy arenas by bringing together a broad spectrum of players to share their perspectives, and learn from each other.
  • Academy of Management (AOM)
    The Academy of Management (AOM) is a leading professional association for scholars dedicated to creating and disseminating knowledge about management and organizations. Founded in 1936 by two professors, AOM is the oldest and largest scholarly management association in the world. Today, the Academy is the professional home for members from 85 nations.
  • American Association of University Professors
    The purpose of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) is to advance academic freedom and shared governance, to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education, and to ensure higher education’s contribution to the common good.
  • American Economic Association (AEA)
    The American Economic Association (AEA) was organized in 1885 in Saratoga, NY. It was incorporated in 1923 in Washington, D.C. as a 501(c)(3) organization. Approximately 18,000 economists are members and 4,600 institutes subscribe. Over 50% of the membership is associated with academic institutions, 35% with business and industry and the remaining largely with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • American Educational Finance Association (AEFA)
    The mission of the American Education Finance Association (AEFA) is to integrate the research, policy, information, and discussion relating to critical issues in education finance. AEFA serves as a forum and information network for the exchange of ideas concerning education finance issues among academic researchers, program administrators, and policy makers in the United States, Canada, and other jurisdictions.
  • American Educational Research Association
    The American Education Research Association is concerned with improving the educational process by encouraging scholarly inquiry related to education and by promoting the dissemination and practical application of research results.
  • Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (APPAM)
    The Association for Public Policy Analysis (APPAM) encourages excellence in research, teaching, and practice in the field of public policy analysis and management. APPAM operates through its annual fall and spring conferences, a newsletter, and the Journal of Policy Analysis (JPAM).
  • Association of Budgeting and Financial Management (ABFM)
    Part of the American Society of Public Administration, the Association of Budgeting and Financial Management (ABFM) promotes the advancement and professional development of the art and science of budgeting and financial management in the public sector. Embracing both operational and theoretical concerns, the section addresses issues of reform and adjustment of budgeting and financial processes to meet the administrative challenges of providing public services at all governmental levels. ABFM members receive a quarterly journal, “Public Budgeting & Finance”. Its newsletter, “ABFM News and Views” is published several times a year.
  • Association of College Administration Professionals (ACAP)
    The Association of College Administration Professionals (ACAP) is the fastest growing association in Higher Education today. Since its founding in February of 1995, a total of 3,000 college administrators have signed up as members. The majority of ACAP’s college administration members are the vice presidents of business, student services, or academic affairs. Other large numbers of members are controllers, directors of housing, physical plant, human resources, student activities, admissions, financial aid, security and safety, purchasing, college unions, food services, bookstores, auxiliary services, and many other college operations.
  • Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP)
    The Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) is a consortium of university-based programs offering credentials in urban and regional planning. Acting together, the ACSP member school faculty are able to express their shared commitments to understanding the dynamics of urban and regional development, enhancing planning practices, and improving the education of both novice and experienced planners. The ACSP seeks to strengthen the role of planning education in colleges and universities through publications, conferences, and community engagement as well as through participation in the accreditation process.
  • Association of Environmental Health Academic Programs
    The Association of Environmental Health Academic Programs is a consortium of programs, organized for the purpose of promoting and enhancing the education of students in the art and science of environmental health practice.
  • Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH)
    The Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) represents deans, faculty and students of the accredited member schools of public health and other programs seeking accreditation as schools of public health. Established in 1953 to facilitate communication among the leadership of schools, ASPH has gradually assumed a variety of functions, including: providing a platform for the enhancement of existing and emerging academic public health programs, working with various agencies of the federal government to strengthen public health education and the public health profession; assisting its member schools in the development and coordination of national health policies; serving as an information center for governmental and private groups; and, assisting in meeting national goals of disease prevention and health promotion.
  • Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA)
    The Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) is a not-for-profit association of university-based educational programs, faculty, practitioners, and provider organizations. Its members are dedicated to continuously improving the field of health management and practice. It is the only nonprofit entity of its kind that works to improve the delivery of health services throughout the world – and thus the health of its citizens – by educating professional managers.
  • Financial Management Association International (FMA)
    The mission of the Financial Management Association International (FMA) is to serve the global finance community by: broadening the common interests between academics and practitioners; providing opportunities for professional interaction between and among academics, practitioners, and students; promoting the development and understanding of basic and applied research and of sound financial practices; and enhancing the quality of education in finance.
  • International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA)
    The International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) is an association of organizations and individuals whose activities and interests focus on public administration and management with an emphasis on the development and use of human resources. IASIA has a world-wide membership of over 170 institutions in 70 countries as well as several international organizations. The activities of its members include education and training of administrators and managers, and related research, consulting, and publications.
  • National Association for Women in Education (NAWE)
    The National Association for Women in Education (NAWE) was the first professional association for women working in higher education. Founded in 1916 as the National Association of Deans of Women, today NAWE membership includes administrators, faculty, staff and students from all sectors, plus women working in associations, businesses and government agencies related to education.
  • National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration
    The National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administrations is an institutional membership organization that exists to promote excellence in public service education. The membership includes U.S. university programs in public affairs, public policy, public administration and nonprofit management.
  • National Tax Association (NTA)
    Founded in 1907, the National Tax Association (NTA) is the leading association of tax professionals dedicated to advance the understanding of the theory and practice of public finance. The NTA is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical educational association that fosters study and discussion of complex and controversial issues in tax theory, practice and policy, and other aspects of public finance. NTA is a 501(c)(3) organization and does not promote any particular tax program or policy. The enormous public benefit that can come from sound tax policy and wise administration is a prime reason for the work of NTA.
  • Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE)
    The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) is an independent, international professional association made up a diverse membership of health education professionals and students. The society promotes healthy behaviors, healthy communities, and healthy environments through its membership, its network of local chapters, and its numerous partnerships with other organizations. With its primary focus on public heath education, SOPHE provides leadership through a code of ethics, standard for professional preparation, research, practice, professional development and public outreach.
