Many graduate schools require that you take
an admission exam. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is the most common type of
entrance exam for graduate school. Certain academic programs may also require a
GRE subject test, such as English literature or chemistry. Before taking an
admission exam:
- Prepare for the exam with practice books, exams, or prep courses.
- Understand how the test is scored. Can you retake the test without penalty?
Do all scores count?
- Schedule your exam as early as possible. Popular time slots will get booked
up. Allow yourself enough time in case a re-take is needed.
Remember,
exams are not the sole criterion for admission!
