Opportunities to work with Letters and Science Career Services
Below you will find a list of
our most popular opportunities for connecting with students. Many employers select the options that best
fit their needs:
- Participate
in Career Fairs – Meet potential
candidates by participating in one or more of our five career fairs throughout
the year. The Career Forum (Fall
semester) and Career Expo (Spring semester) are our most general events,
while the Government and Non-profit Volunteer and Career Fair,
Multicultural Career Fair, and Sciences and Life Sciences Career Fairs
allow you to target niche audiences.
In all, over 2,000 students are reached through these events.
- Post a
job with our office – Between
600-800 students are registered on our office’s on-campus recruiting system,
which means you gain access to top-notch candidates who are interested in
finding jobs. Not only can you post
a job for students to apply for, you can proactively search our database
of resumes for potential candidates to interview.
- Information
Sessions – Create an information
session to stand alone or in conjunction with other events on campus;
these allow you to be flexible and inform students of the opportunities
available within your organization.
- Interview
on campus – While you can
certainly elect to conduct interviews off-campus, by coming to campus to
interview candidates, you can increase the visibility of your
organization.
- Create
an internship – Internships are
great ways to identify and develop potential candidates early in their
career. Consider working with our
office to develop an internship program that’s right for you.
- Participate
in other office events – In
addition to the career fairs, our office also produces events including an
Etiquette Dinner and Mock Interview Day that you can participate in to
increase your visibility among students and network with potential
candidates.
- Record
a podcast – Record a podcast
that can be accessed by any UW-Madison student in a medium that is quick,
cheap for the employer, and in line with current student demographics.
- Sponsor
the office – Becoming a sponsor
for the L&S Career Services office enables you to
increase your visibility with students.
As a sponsor, students will benefit from expanded services, and
your name gets associated with and displayed at many of the programs and
services.
- Arrange
a “Day in the Field” or externship –
The “Day in the Field” is a site visit to your organization arranged
through the L&S Career Services office designed to
introduce a group of students to your organization. Externships are short-term opportunities
for students to come in and job shadow or experience your organization;
they can be as short as a half-day, or as long as several days during a
school break. Setting one of these
up through our office can greatly increase exposure for your organization.

any or all of these options, or if you want to customize a recruiting strategy,
