![]() | Welcome. As Dean of the College of Letters & Science, I am very proud of the role that our college has played in designing a new liberal arts curriculum for UW-Madison. The new curriculum is designed to help and encourage students to find innovative ways to engage the university, themselves, and each other. The new liberal arts curriculum builds on our traditional strengths in broad academic fields that are at the heart of a great University of Wisconsin education. I hope that you will use this site as your introduction and guide to the academic opportunities that have been developed to create a liberal arts experience for the 21st century. |
Who does it affect? All incoming freshmen to UW-Madison will enter under BABS07. All students under the current curriculum have the choice to opt-in to the new requirements. |

What's different? Probably the biggest change is the acceptance of any UW-Madison course toward the BABS07 degrees. Previously, many challenging courses - and some less challenging - were not accepted for degree credit in L&S, because they were considered technical or pre-professional and thus not liberal-artsy. |
