AAP is developing a year-long Peer Mentor Program which allows upper class AAP students to mentor a small group of incoming first year students by fostering academic and socio-cultural adjustment for first year AAP students.
Mission Statement: The purpose of the Peer Mentor Program is to create a sense of community and belonging for first-year AAP students and assist them in a successful transition from high school to college life as well as into the AAP Program. The program will also help mentors develop the personal and professional skills needed to successfully engage in meaningful interactions with people of different backgrounds, viewpoints and values. While helping first year students adjust to college life, peer mentors will develop personal and professional skills such as multi-cultural competence, problem-solving, and technology skills.
AAP would like to congratulate and thank our 2009-2010 Peer Mentors. Our staff is here to support you in developing your personal and professional skills. This year, our Peer Mentors will be planning and staffing our community service and community building activities. Peer Mentors will also be assisting with the AAP Student Organization.
