Self-Advising Tools
DARS: The Degree Audit Reporting System is the official document of record for L&S degrees, majors, and certificates. DARS reports what requirements are completed, which are outstanding, and what courses and credits you need to complete your degree. Use DARS in consultation with your academic adviser each semester, so that you are staying on track toward graduation.
L&S Academic Catalog - The catalog is a great place to learn about major and certificate requirements, as well as course descriptions. Courses also list if a prerequisite is needed prior to registering, to help you plan your entire academic career.
Departments & Academic Programs - This helpful list will provide links to UW-Madison department and academic program web pages.
General Education Requirements - all Letters & Science students need to complete GER's. Familiarize yourself with them and if you have any questions, ask your advisor!
Timetable - This "Schedule of Classes" helps students locate classes and plan their semester, all in one place.
Order a Transcript - When you apply for jobs, graduate or professional school, licenses for teaching, etc. ordering a transcript is a must. This web site makes it very easy.
BABS07 - Unsure if you should switch to the new curriculum or not (for UW students who matriculated before May 23, 2007), find out the answers to your questions here. You can also switch to the new L&S Curriculum through this web site. If you are an entering freshman, your degree is already on the new curriculum track.
BABS Worksheet: fill in your courses or potential courses to "audit" how courses equal general education requirement completion.
