Pre-Health Student Organizations

In addition to the organizations listed below, a search of the Registered Student Organizations Directory using a key word like “health” or “medicine” will reveal a number of specialized, healthcare-related organizations which have chapters on the general UW-Madison campus.

AHANA (African, Hispanic, Asian & Native Americans)

AHANA is the only organization of its kind at the undergraduate level. AHANA includes African/Black Americans, Hispanic/Latino Americans, Asian Pacific Islanders, and Native Americans, which incorporates Alaskan Natives. It aims to support, encourage, and maintain the interests of minority students in pre-health professional careers.

Alpha Epsilon Delta (Pre-Med Honor Society)
This honor society encourages and recognizes excellence in premedical scholarship.  It aims to stimulate an appreciation of the importance of medical education; to promote communication between medical and premedical students and educators; and to provide a forum for students with common interests.

Health Education and Leadership Program (HELP)

The goal of the HELP organization is to increase public awareness of health issues and terminal illnesses through campus and community outreach programs.

Health Professions Society (HPS)
The Health Professions Society brings students together to explore medical and health related fields.

Pre-Dental Society (UW-PDS)

This student organization serves as a guide to resources and pre-dental school opportunities while it helps students orient themselves toward a career in dental medicine.

Professional Association of Latinos for Medical School Access (PALMA)

PALMA works to provide resources for, but not exclusively to, Latino/a students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison who are interested in medicine and/or a medical career. Their meetings are open to everyone.
 
UW Pre-Optometry Club
This student organization's goal is to facilitate and educate students in their pursuit of a career in Optometry, by providing opportunities to learn more about the profession. There is currently no website for the club; for information, email UWpreoptomometry@hotmail.com.
